But Cox isn’t just known for his dramatic chops – he’s also famous for his outspoken nature. He’s never shy about sharing his often strong opinions. And guess what? One of his latest comments has him back in the headlines – yet again.

In a recent episode of The Starting Line with Rich Leigh, Brian Cox, the ever-outspoken actor known for his powerful performances, stirred the pot yet again. This time, he went all in, advocating for a societal shift towards a matriarchy. Cox argues that we haven’t given enough space to female leadership. He believes mothers, with their inherent nurturing nature, are the true conditioners of our lives. He takes a jab at fathers, calling them “too bloody selfish” and essentially relegating them to the biological role of “moveable sperm banks.”

“We haven’t given enough scope to the matriarchy. And I think we need to move matriarchally, we have to go more towards a matriarchy because the mothering thing is the thing which is the real conditioning of our lives. Our fathers don’t condition us, they’re too bloody selfish, but our mothers have to. Because they have an umbilical — that’s what the umbilical cord is about. Even though it’s cut away, there’s an umbilical relationship to your child, and the women have that. Men do not have that, they’re just sperm banks, moveable sperm banks.”

These strong comments are sure to spark debate. While there’s no denying the immense role mothers play, Cox’s dismissal of fathers as “moveable sperm banks” is a harsh generalization that might overshadow his core message about the importance of matriarchy.

The ever-in-demand veteran Brian Cox is poised for a banner year in 2024. With his already impressive filmography continuing to expand, Cox shows no signs of slowing down. We’ve already seen him grace the screen in the heartwarming drama Little Wing, where he shared scenes with rising star Brooklynn Prince.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Cox is set to voice Helm Hammerhand in The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The movie takes us back in time to Middle-earth, set a whopping 261 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings. The story centers on Cox’s Helm Hammerhand, a legendary king of Rohan who faces a fierce onslaught from the Dunlendings. This epic battle not only shapes the future of Rohan but also lends its name to the iconic fortress, Helm’s Deep. The movie is currently scheduled to release on December 13, 2024.
